「960点と990点なんて誤差みたいなもの」
なんて言葉はウソですね。
そこには歴然とした実力の差があることを
ひしひしと実感しています。(^^;
まっ、登るべき山があるってのは、いいもんですね。
楽しみながら実力アップをしていこうと思います。
さて、今日の話題は発音について。
よく、発音をカタカナで書くことを
悪いことのように言う人がいますが、
実はカタカナは、使いようによっては効果的です。
例えば、"doctor"という単語を
【ドクター】と書いてしまったら、
それは、英語本来の音とは違います。
しかし、【ダッター】と書いたら、
見た目的にはピンと来ないけれど、
発音のほうは結構似てきます。
同様に、"some of them"という言葉も
【サム オブ ゼム】と書いてしまったら、
本来の音とは違うけれど、
【サマヴデン】と書くとそれっぽくなります。
もちろん、こういったカタカナ表記は
あくまでも英語音声の補助として使うもので、
音も聴かずにカタカナだけ読むのは
絶対にオススメできません。
でも、普段なんとなく思い込みで聴いてる音を
こんな風にカタカナ表記で見ると、
唇や舌の動かし方を
見直すきっかけになりそうですよね。
うまく言えない単語やフレーズは、
こちらのサイトでチェックしてみると
なかなか面白い発見があるかもしれません。

省エネ発音単語集が見つかりました。
たぶん、どこかのホームページにあったものを
メモ帳にコピペしたおいたもののようです。
その中から、使えそうな表記を拾いつつ、
ちょっと違うなと思うものは書き直し、
ねこ流「省エネ発音リスト」を作ってみました。
